Yep!
Felt the whole building shake and the some of my glasses were clinking together, (kinda like when the scene they use in some movies when something like this is starting [img]eek.gif[/img] ) Woke me up, and got me out of bed to seperate the glasses and check for anything else that may have fallen over or something. But all was well so I went back to bed LOL!

Earthquake tremors reported

An earthquake registering a 5.4 on the Richter scale 180 miles away in southeast Illinois shook the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region at 5:37 a.m. No damages or injuries have been reported.

Tremors rocked residents from Wilmington to West Chester Township to Delhi Township in Hamilton County to Bellevue in Northern Kentucky for about 10 seconds, county dispatchers reported.

Travis Arnold, 13, of Burlington was awake but still lying in bed this morning when it started shaking.

"I didn't know what it was," he said. "I jumped out of bed. I never felt anything like that in my life!"

Flo Fite was waiting in her 2001 Chevy Cavalier in the parking lot of the Perkins restaurant off Interstate 275 in Springdale when her car stared shaking.

"I thought it was the wind," said Fite, 69. "I didn't know what was going on but it didn't scare me. I am used to anything happening early in the morning."
The quake was centered six miles from West Salem, Ill., and 66 miles from Evansville, Ind. It was felt in such distant cities as Chicago, Milwaukee, and Des Moines, Iowa, 450 miles northwest of the epicenter, but there were no early reports of injuries or significant damage.

The quake occurred in the Illinois basin-Ozark dome region that covers parts of Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas and stretches from Indianapolis and St. Louis to Memphis, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The organization's Web site said earthquakes occur irregularly in the area, and that the largest historical earthquake in the region - also a magnitude 5.4 - caused damage in southern Illinois in 1968.

The weather service is scrambling to get details about the earthquake from the U.S. Geological Survey, said meteorologist Mike Ryan of the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

"We are as in the dark as everyonoe else," he said. "Our ceiling tiles kind of shuffled a bit. We thought the air vents were kicking off. That's how subtle it is. It was a little out of the ordinary."

County dispatchers were flooded with calls starting at around 5:45 a.m., they said.

"The calls are coming in from all over, not just one community," said one Butler County dispatcher who was so busy she hung up without giving her name.

Computer monitors swayed on desks and homes shook some people awake.


Havent felt one of those around here in a long long time.

Actually, I figured it out this morning.

Earth Day is Next week! But, many have started parties early (like the one I was showing our hybrids at last saturday) and the one this saturday downtown. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
The Earth way just resetting itself to get ready for it's celebration. Probably sorry that it startled anyone and is happy that so many care about it now. Earth needs a pretty big celebration, because it's a pretty big planet and was more than likely just making preperations for the forthcoming celebrations, and trying to prepare itself to look it's best for all the media.

Another aftershock rocks region

An aftershock from Friday?s 5.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey?s Earthquake Center.

The 4.5 magnitude aftershock hit about 1:30 a.m. today near the epicenter of Friday?s earthquake, about 185 miles away in southeast Illinois, said Jessica Sigala, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Tremors were felt as far east as Cincinnati, she said.

There were no reports of damages or injuries.

Several residents from Greater Cincinnati called the Earthquake Center earlier this morning to report the aftershock, she said.

?A lot of people I talked to were woken up,? Sigala said. ?I heard that it felt like Friday?s tremor but it was lighter and didn?t last as long. It was the same kind of motion.?

This is the latest aftershock ? the 19th - from Friday?s earthquake and one of the strongest ones, she said. The first one, a 4.6 magnitude aftershock, was reported about 11:15 a.m. Friday, she said.

Smaller ones ? less than a 3 magnitude ? also were reported over the weekend, she said.

?There could have been more,? she warned. ?We have only located 19. It?s hard to say if there will be more.?
